Sinha murder: Court resumes recording depositions in 5th phase

The Cox's Bazar court has resumed recording depositions in the fifth phase of witnesses in the Major (retd) Sinha Rashed Khan murder case.

Judge Ismail Hossain of Cox's Bazar District and Sessions Judge's Court opened the proceedings at 10:00 am today. interrogation of witness Baby Begum by the defence of the prosecution, the Cox's Bazar correspondent reports quoting the Public Prosecutor of this Court Faridul Alam.

In the early hours of 9:30, 15 defendants were taken to the judge from Cox's Bazar district jail with an ambulance, which was surrounded by high security.

The fifth phase of cross-examination and deposition will continue until the 12th of October.

The court has recorded the statements of 18 witnesses, as well as their cross-examinations.

According to the charge document that was filed, 83 people witnessed to the incident.

On June 27th, the court made charges against the accused. Of the accused, 12 are police officers such as the officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar Das Police Inspector Liaqat Ali, sub-inspector Md Shahjahan and sub-inspector assistant Liton Mia All of them were suspended from their positions.

On the 13th day of December The investigators handed in an accusation sheet.

Sinha was killed during the course of a police shooting at a check point located in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf upazila on the 31st of July in the year prior.

His sister-in-law had filed the murder charge with Teknaf the Senior Magistrate's court against Pradeep, Nandadulal, and other defendants on the 5th of August last year.
